First of all, the randomly selected winner of the Stonyfield Farm giveaway is . . . Larissa! Larissa has two gorgeous kids who, I hope, like yogurt. Enjoy.
Also, there is a nice piece about West of the Loop Canning on examiner.com today. Do swing by and check it out.
Lastly, I am happy to report two things. One, Zuzu passed her wheat challenge last week. She has been happily sampling all kinds of wheat goodies. So far, wheat bread has not been a hit, which strikes us as odd, but of course, she is not used to the taste of it. She does like graham crackers, wheat pasta, couscous and Bleeding Heart Bakery’s vegan chocolate chip cookies and chocolate cupcakes. Thanks to everyone who has given us suggestions on vegan baking — the next frontier. The second thing is that today I attempted to redeem Saturday’s kitchen disaster by producing a slightly made-up peach-apricot-red currant jam (because I didn’t have enough apricots left to make that recipe). The jam set, which was not a given since I guestimated the amount of sugar needed, my jars sealed and no kitchen gadgets were destroyed. Whew!

Great publicity for your canning business! But I can only hope the Examiner springs for a copyeditor soon. Sheesh!
Congrats to your family on the good news about the wheat challenge! That’s a huge one. You’ve probably already been directed to it, but if not, check out “Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World” for recipes. http://tinyurl.com/2383ht4
Thanks Carrie, that’s awesome. I’ve been really impressed with how good some of the vegan bakd goods are.
