Rhubarb-Rose Petal preserves, one of my weekend's projects. It’s Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of summer. My family is having a weekend filled with our favorite summer pastimes. I have mixed feelings about beets. When I was a kid, the only exposure I had to beets were the pickled beets that my mother made for her Swedish Christmas Eve smorgasbord. On our first full day in Paris, my husband and I walked all over the Ile de la Cité and the Ile St. Louis, the two islands in the middle of the Seine. My husband and I just returned from a magical week in Paris. We strolled the cobblestone streets hand-in-hand. We marveled at the great works of art and we were awed by the magnificent churches.
