Mostly, it was just plain old maple. My older generation family had a tendency to prefer cane, actually, but our generation and up used cane on rare occasion. Still, there is something pretty special about a hot buttermilk biscuit with a touch of butter and a drizzling of cane syrup. Yum! I'll look and see if I can find sorghum the next time I'm at a grocery store. I honestly don't know of anyone that eats it, so I bet it's not easy to find due to low demand.
